Which Coves to Visit in El Campello
El Campello is home to numerous beaches and coves, so narrowing them all down isn’t easy. Below are some of our top picks, but another fantastic idea is to explore them all during your stay (which sounds like a fabulous plan!)
Cala del Llop Marí
This narrow cove of pebbles and coarse sand is located just beyond La Almadraba beach. It offers nearby parking and even a hidden spot, which we’ll reveal later in this article.
Playa del Amerador
A peaceful and beautiful cove, Playa del Amerador is ideal for those seeking tranquillity, even during the busy summer months. It’s easily accessible by car from the N-332 and is conveniently located near a stop on Tram Line 1, right by the beach.
Cala Nostra
This marvellous cove (also known as Cala Lleida) is lesser known which makes it even more appealing. You can reach it from the Amerador Tram stop or even swim there from Cala del Amerador.
Cala Piteres
One of our favourites, Cala Piteres is small and quiet, with the added benefit of nearby parking. Close by, you’ll find a picnic area, a children’s playground, and shaded spots, making it perfect for a family lunch before heading back to the beach.
Cala del Morro Blanc
This cove features calm waters and a relaxed vibe, although it does have a beach bar where you can have a snack or a drink to cool off. During the summer, it’s common to see boats moored just off the beach.
Other beaches of note in El Campello are the following:
- Playa del Carrer de la Mar
- Playa Can Campello
- Playa del Trajo
- Playa de la Illeta
Activities to Enjoy in El Campello’s Coves
Visiting a cove is about embracing tranquillity and natural beauty while soaking up the sun and sea. While the coves of El Campello don’t offer as many organised activities as larger beaches, you can still enjoy swimming, snorkelling, playing with your little ones in nearby playgrounds, or having a relaxed family picnic.
Hidden Coves and Secret Spots in El Campello
Now, it’s time to delve into some of the lesser-known, more secluded spots in El Campello—perfect for adventurous explorers.
La Cova del Llop Marí
Located within Cala del Llop Marí, this cave shares the same name. You can only reach it by swimming, snorkelling, or kayaking, adding an adventurous twist to your trip to El Campello.
The Path to Barranc D’Aigües Beach
This picture-perfect spot features a set of stairs framed by two houses, surrounded by palm trees and ivy. It’s a peaceful area, and once you reach the beach, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning natural setting.
La Illeta dels Banyets or Baños de la Reina (Queen’s Baths)
Though not a complete secret, this historical site is often overlooked. These natural pools, originally Roman fish farms, are located on a small peninsula that also features an ancient watchtower.
What to See in El Campello Beyond Its Beaches
We know you won’t want to spend your entire visit sunbathing, so here are some additional attractions to explore in El Campello:
El Campello Harbour
Both a fishing port and a marina, this is the perfect place for a peaceful stroll while admiring the boats or purchasing fresh fish from the market. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even try parasailing or hire a jet ski—several companies at the harbour offer these experiences.
Villa Marco Gardens
Located on the outskirts of El Campello, Villa Marco is a striking estate featuring a modernist mansion with French colonial influences. The only way to visit is by booking a guided tour or attending one of the cultural events held on the property.
